Lávra - dobrosrdečný, hodný, spravedlivý. Do doby, než mu sloužil Kukulín neměl
k lidem soucit.

Báseň Král Lávra
pojednává o irském králi, který byl mezi lidmi oblíben, byl moudrý a lidem
se v jeho království žilo dobře. Měl však jednu chybu. Stříhat a holit se
nechával pouze jednou za rok. A holiče, který ho stříhal, nechal vždy
popravit. Každý rok si holiči losovali, kdo tentokrát půjde krále
ostříhat.Tentokrát padl los na mladého holiče Kukulína. Krále ostříhal a když
ho vedli k šibenici, jeho matka šla prosit krále o milost. Vyčítala
mu, jak může nechat zabít člověka, který se ničím neprovinil. Král dal
Kukulínovi milost, ale pod jednou podmínkou, že nikdy nikomu neprozradí, co
viděl, když krále stříhal. Mladík mu vše odpřísáhl a král ho jmenoval dvorním
holičem. Kukulína trápilo, že se nikomu nemůže svěřit s tím, co
o králi ví. Matka si všimla, že chlapce něco trápí a naléhala, aby se jí
svěřil. Doporučila mu, aby vyhledal v lese poustevníka, že ten mu určitě
poradí a pomůže. Poustevník mu poradil, aby tajemství řekl do kmene staré vrby.
Ještě ten večer se Kukulín vrbě vyzpovídal a hodně se mu ulevilo.
Za nedlouho král uspořádal bál. Cestou na bál muzikant Červíček zjistil, že se
mu z basy ztratil kolík. Zrovna šel kolem vrby, uřízl z ní větev a
nahradil ztracený kolík. Když začal na bále hrát, basa zpustila: „Král Lávra má
dlouhé oslí uši, král je ušatec….“. Jakmile to král uslyšel, nechal muzikanta
vyhodit. Od té doby lidé znali královo tajemství, ale nezanevřeli na něj. Měli
ho pořád rádi, možná i víc než dřív.
